    Fish Tank X Upcycle

Today I took a break from the deep notions of psychology, memory and dementia and decided to do something i’ve been wanting to do for a while now. Turn my fish tank into something completely different.

I tracked down a 1970 Ferguson 3840, with a beautiful and ever so vintage ‘wooden veneer effect’ on gumtree for a small price and went to work on it. I stripped it down to its barest form and after some ‘precise’ tinkering with a chisel and a lump mallet I had what I needed.

The next stage was to clean everything down thoroughly and remove the 40 years of dust and grime out of its core before re-assembling the television with a few squirts of a hot glue gun and the original screws back in place.

Finally I added the tank through the back and slid it into place, the next stage is to fit a time sensitive light under the hood of the television to allow the fish a more natural light source but this is just an added extra.

I’m incredibly happy with how this turned out and especially as i’ve had the idea for a long time and to finally see it come to life is worth the effort of creating it, I posted it on social media accounts and the feedback I received was great, there were a few people that said they would purchase one themselves so it could be something that turns into a side project after university, but as for now i’m quite content knowing I have the on of the best fish tanks in Britain, in my opinion anyway!
